At a deserted racehouse the Hon Lucian Ffordsham waits with Johnson, a bookie's collector, to interview Kirby, who refuses to pay his debts. Johnson beats up Kirby and Ffordsham drags him away. Kirby fails to get up and Johnson tells Ffordsham he is dead. frightened, they run away. Kirby gets to his feet, smiles and walks away.
