Diana Rigg

Emma Peel, which role was performed by Diana Rigg, born on 20 July 1938 at Dowcaster, England, passed away on 10th September 2020, played in the 4th, the 5th and the 6th season (note that some people are in the opinion that the 5th and the 6th season forms together one season!) In fact she was the most succesful partner of John Steed. Her character is described as the best by ZZ von Schnerk in Epic :"Animal vitality, a woman with courage, beautie and action. Could become desperate and yet remain strong. Confused and yet remain intelligent who can fight back and yet stay feminine. She also had a good sense of humour.

Dame Diana Rigg belonged to the Royal Shakespeare Company, played Emma Peel on the 1960s British spy show The Avengers, and was a James Bond girl.

Dame Diana Rigg was born on July 20, 1938 in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. From 1959 to 1964 Rigg performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 1965, she auditioned for the popular British TV espionage series The Avengers and landed the role of the shapely, secret agent Mrs. Emma Peel. Four years later she landed the big-screen role of Mrs. James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s Rigg's theatrical, film, and television career was wide ranging. Among her accolades, she won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress in 1989 for the BBC miniseries Mother Love and an Emmy for her role as Mrs. Danvers on the television adaptation, Rebecca, in 1997. Rigg was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1994.

Since 2013 Rigg has been widely known for her guest role as Lady Olenna Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones, for which she nominated for an Emmy in 2015.
